The End of September.

It's another Race to Read Friday! Some kids hate these reading days, some kids love them. Today's highlights will be...

1. One magazine written for girls by girls! It's called New Moon. I'll get the link to the website on here too. It's awesome because girls decide what goes into the magazines, what themes to have, what articles to include---they decide everything. It's not one of those magazines that only talks about boys, make-up, and fashion. It's actually got realistic information, news, and material for regular girls!

2. Another magazine is Sports Illustrated. The topic is obviously sports, but the articles are written by some of the most talented journalist currently working. One of this week's articles is about a man who plays minor league baseball. One day, he hit a line-drive foul ball down the first baseline. It hit his first-base coach and killed him on the spot. The article gives you a glimpse of what this guy has been struggling with ever since he stepped out of the batter's box and realized what just happened. Powerful story,

3. Then we'll go to the Media Center. Bring your books, but if you aren't thrilled with your book, find a new one. There are lots of recommendations on last week's blogs. Or ask a friend. I'm willing to help you find a good book too.

Here are my 2 questions: What is your reading goal for the month of October? Do you want to read 1 book? Do you want to try to read for 20 minutes every day? Tell me one goal you have about reading!

What would you like to add to Reading Days? Is there anything else you'd like to do during our one day of READING?

Happy Reading Day, 8LA. Enjoy!
Stenson

I think this month I want to read Darkness Before Dawn by Sharon Draper. I have read Forged By Fire and Tears Of A Tiger. They were both really good and I want to try to finish this one by the end of the month. I think if you were going to change anything about reading days is give us more time in the media center. It's fun to read a book if you are really into it.

I'm reading the DaVinci Code right now, it's kind of dull, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't like big or french words. I'm hoping it gets better soon!

What Up Bloggers!
I am in LA right now,(DUH) and I am in need of a good book! Help me out!
I need something that isn't going to put me to sleep. I need a page turner that gets me from the beginning? Do they even have books like that? Does anyone even know about a book like that? If you do, please. I'm desperate. Not really, but I just don't want to keep reading "The Clique" and the "A-List" over and over!

Stay Fabulous!

Hey Ms. Stenson!
I love reading days but I think that other kids would like them more if they had candy to suck on while they read their books. I've read almost every book by Kate DiCamillo including Because of Winn-Dixie, The Tale of Despereaux, and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. I loved all of them a lot. They're sweet!

Hey Stenson over the summer I had a goal of 30 minutes 5 t5imes a week and I about made. Over the summer I kept a reading log and I thought if we could just have one for fun and to see what books we read and liked. That way we dont forget what great (or horrible) books we read I thought that would be great.

Hey. This is Hannah-or Werth A Lot--

So i am reading this book called "Wuthering Hight" by Cara Lockwood. It is about this girl named Miranda who is sent off to this Bording school called Bard Academy, a school for bad bad kids who to regroup and figure things life. She goes to this school and get stalked by horrific nightmares. The students at the school's lives start to mirror the classic tragical books like "Jane Eyre" and "Wuthering Hights". So they start to suspect that this school is haunted.
This book is a good mystery and thrill that keeps you wanting to read more. (Ya to bad i dont have time to read!!!!) You should read it!

2. No there isn't anything I would really change about reading day. It's cool.

I'm now reading Tears Of A Tiger by Sharon Draper.. and hopefully by the end of October I'll finish my current book and possibly Darkness Before Dawn, to finish off the trilogy. See you monday!

My goal is actually to read three or more books a week. It sounds like a lot but I love to read. Last year I read an average of a book a day. I finished New Moon! I loved it! I know some people didn't like the 2nd one as much as the first one, I really liked the 1st one the most, but New moon was just as good. Readers Rule~Hannah

My goal is to get through at least one book a week. I'm trying to find another good at the moment...
Usually if I'm really into a book, I'll finish it with a few days, so I just need to get my hands on Twilight and all those other books that everyone is talking about and then I'll be set!
